Denver Kitchen Cabinet Door Decisions

November 12, 2020

Each room within a home serves a specific purpose and is designed accordingly. From a garage - used to park a vehicle or for storage of outdoor items and things which may not have a place in the house to bathrooms - with their facilities and storage components for related items. However, one room stands alone as one of the most critical aspects within any home - the kitchen. Not only is this a space where food is prepared, but it also serves as a spot for gatherings, sharing, and arguably even more “living” than the living room. For these reasons, it has become a focal point for potential home buyers, in addition to permanent residents who may wish to make an upgrade to their existing space.

While these upgrades can potentially increase overall property value, upgrading a kitchen is one home remodeling project that pays the most back in happiness as well. An important space which receives daily use, even if not for preparing meals, a large amount of time will be spent in this area and it should be designed accordingly. There are preferences for the flow of a workspace and which materials should be used but when it comes to kitchen cabinet doors, there are a few more specific items to consider.

Depending on your dream kitchen design, there are a few different choices for cabinet door styles. Over time the characteristics of these different varieties - Shaker, Slab, Flat-Panel, and Raised-Panel - have proven to be solid and timeless choices. However, each fits a specific design style for your personal interior preferences. More modern kitchens may institute a slab door, where elegant kitchens could use a raised-panel, or the ever popular Shaker, which institutes properties of each.

Far too often, the kitchen hardware pieces are an oversight that homeowners forget about until the installation point arrives. Cabinets are built or installed, doors are put on, and then it hits them - wait, we need pulls, knobs, and handles, to make this kitchen function. It is then when they rush to a decision, but with so many options available, getting one which ties your kitchen doors together or matches aesthetics on the appliances is a move which can bolster the appearance of your space.

Depending on the layout of your kitchen, door sizing is also important. Typically, cabinets below the counter are larger, whereas those above are smaller in scale. You may also have larger doors which cover a pantry or some other area, so sizing and the overall layout is critical.

Choosing a material and door which can be easily cleaned is also a key factor. Any used kitchen is going to be subject to spills, splatter, and other messes which are likely to find their way onto the doors at some point. Small crooks and crevices are going to be harder to clean than flat, wide surfaces.

If you’re ready to remodel your existing kitchen, simply add new doors for an enhanced look, or create a new design altogether, then look no further than the highly qualified experts at HTI Granite and Cabinetry.
